This is a reply to Catherine Webster in the comments section on the news article Yorkshire man dies of sudden disease 'nobody has ever survived' as family still in shock, here. A lot of journalists do it all the time, including non-journalists who also do it all the time. Mistakes include "alot", which is supposed to mean either "allot" or "a lot" - nearly every single time meaning the latter; "it's" instead of "its" (and also "its" instead of "it's") which also includes adding the apostrophe before more or less every single S at the end of any relevant word, where the apostrophe is unneeded; "-ize" instead of "-ise"; in, e.g. "80's" and "1980's" instead of "'80s" and "1980s"; formatting dates as MM/DD/YY (or MM/DD/YYYY) instead of DD/MM/YY (or DD/MM/YYYY); etc. It's americanisation, for one thing; it's "Does it matter? Herp-derp", for another. English is English.
