This is from a reply I made in another topic.
"On the Internet, no-one knows you are a dog." A piece of advice I would give is to ignore it or laugh it off and move on. I believe, personally, that people should be able to express themselves. I made this forum because of censorship (or as I prefer to call it, censorshit) and also because of post/character limits in comment replies. Does being called this, that or the other make you not be able to sleep at night? Whether you are this or that or the other - or not - who cares what someone on the Internet says?
I would ask any member to tone things down a bit with what some might consider attacks against other members. If any member is a Jew, a Christian, a Muslim, an Atheist, a Lefty, a Righty... I really don't think matters much here. This might be undesirable, but regardless of who/what a member is, or is not, or might be, or might not be... they are welcome to join and participate here. I have my own personal opinions and preferences, but I wish to not enforce those things, and myself, upon others in this community. Currently, there are no official rules for this forum. As I said, you know what the rules are already. Imposing rules, in my opinion, begins both censorship and controlling what others wish to say and how they express themselves, but if they are necessary, then they shall be implemented. Anything illegal or merely spamming must be removed without appeal. This is not an adult-themed forum.
I would hope this community could include anyone who is willing to join - and yes, that includes Jews, Christians, Muslims, Pagans, Atheists, Lefties, Righties, Centralists, Tories, Labourers, Democrats, Republicans... Shock! Horror! Naturally, these can create rifts, but I hope we can learn to be mature and civil in debate - and come to conclusions and actual, correct answers. Pi ≈ 3.14159...*, but if you want to argue that pi = 3, then argue it to your heart's content. Forgive my use of this over-used term, but - toxicity is not what I am hoping for here. I hope people can think with their brains instead of with their emotions. If you're this - fine; if you're not this but arethat - fine. You know who and what you are; if the other person is wrong, then egg on their face (and a custard or cream pie also in their face for good measure!).
For these, I am referring to religions/spirituality or non-religion - Judaism, Christianity, Islam (aka Abrahamism); Paganism (a wide spread of different/similar systems, most of which are many, many thousands of years older than Abrahamism and I think are based on Science and Nature, rather than belief and faith); and of course not having a belonging to any such group or organisation;
by these, I meant politics - Left-wing, Right-wing, Central, Conservatives (UK), Labour (UK), Democrat (USA), Republican (USA).
Anyone who might follow any religion or spirituality, or not; anyone who might follow any politics, or not; anyone can come and argue their case and challenge others' views - and have their own views challenged.
Because "You can't have that here! I want this forum to be an echo chamber!". Those who oppose your views and understandings - or misunderstandings - are also welcome here.
It can become heated and upsetting, and people tend to want/need to have the final word, to be right even if/when they are wrong... but one intention I hope to have here is users can learn to argue mentally instead of emotionally when necessary. In my experience, people emotionalise too often, instead of intellectualise. There are times when both are very valid and necessary, but I have noticed people tend to try to argue with emotions way more often than with thinking.
Things which might be quite controversial can also be discussed/argued here. Things which have people on opposing sides arguing why they are right and the other side is wrong - either emotionally and/or intellectually. They may be right, they may be wrong.
For clarity, as there is discussion on here about Satanism - I consider Satanism to be in the same group as Paganism. There is neo-Satanism and neo-Paganism around, but I consider these to be in the same category as Paganism as a whole. This may not conform with other definitions and categorisations outside of this forum, however.
