sunflower , "Of course, I'm advocating for a healthy balance. Letting go of the need for objectivity in personal matters like having fun is part of that balance. " That is a personal preference. "I can only believe things that have proven their effectiveness to me, and put my trust in those who've earned it. It's served me better than believing strangers who claim their beliefs are objective because others, in turn, told them so." I agree on this point

That is a personal preference. Indeed, it's what I concluded based on my subjective experience and that of the people close to me.

My subjective preference is to be hurt by the truth, rather than comforted by a lie.

My subjective preference is to be hurt by the truth, rather than comforted by a lie. I strongly disagree with the notion that everything which isn't objective is a lie. People really have their subjective experiences, and they know that for a fact because they've experienced it.

People really have their subjective experiences, and they know that for a fact because they've experienced it. Something that is subjective isn't necessarily a lie. Enjoyment is an example of this, because what brings people enjoyment is completely subjective, yet enjoyment can be objectively measured. However, the problem with subjective experiences are that there is no way to know whether they are true or false and whether our conclusions about them are biased. That is why Socrates said, I know that I know nothing.

Fun is completely subjective. What is fun to one person, is not fun for another. It's an idea that exists in our minds only.
Are you sure it's social and not personal? One can be anti-social, and have fun.

factsorfeelings1234 , It's probably both as every society and individual has it's own definition of what's fun and what is allowed. The crux of the matter is that fun is an idea. It's not objectively real.

Ideas are not real? No they are not real. They are thoughts, and thoughts exists in our minds. Some ideas can eventually materialize into something tangible, but not all ideas.

Someone in the cheap seats exclaims:"Which Ideas materialize into something tangible and which don't!?"
Well usually only the ideas that are that have an objective basis or sound logic and reasoning behind them. Irrational ideas, for example, "God" never seem to hold up to scrutiny.

Is that objectively the case, or is that your subjective experience?
